I enjoy using this book as a supplement to the Suzuki method. It offers a broader selection of musical styles which is refreshing. It does span a wide range of ability levels as shown in the chart at the front of the book, so it is good to intersperse it while advancing with the Suzuki books. I have found it interesting to have students use the folk songs at the beginning to challenge themselves to play all or part of the songs in a different octave, using positions when appropriate.
