Agree completely with the prior reviewer - these duets are rich and interesting, providing compelling material for beginners and intermediate players alike to develop their skills and understanding of Baroque composition and harmony! An added bonus is that there are a number of Youtube videos of people playing both parts - just search Easy Baroque Duets arr. Betty Barlow (I especially appreciate the videos done by Patrick Murphy). This has been a wonderful learning tool for me as a beginner violinist, and friends who are more advanced than me are enjoying playing the pieces as well. FYI The book includes both parts on the same page, with no extra copy, so be prepared to share your book and/or purchase two copies! A wonderful book - highly recommend!

Many of these duets are polyphonic. I like having melodic interest in both parts. The parts are equal, unlike some duets that have one fun part and one boring part.
The rhythms are straight forward, but players must count carefully because the parts have independent rhythms.
The keys are basic -- up to two sharps and up to two flats.
I highly recommend this book for developing ensemble skills and exposing students to Baroque repertoire.
