String Explorer, by Dabczynski, Meyer, and Phillips, is an entertaining new take on beginning string instruction. These three renown pedagogues rethink the standard progression of string methods and make some important changes. For example, basic theory is introduced slower than some other methods, while instead they put a good deal more focus on getting students to concentrate on bow control and technique quickly. Another focus of this method is engaging the student with colorful illustration and a narrative involving the characters Arco Dakota and Rosalyn Le Bow. Includes an interactive accompaniment CD.
