So, brief history. My first violin case, purchased from Shar (I took lessons from Evelyn, back in the day) was a Jaeger. Loved it. Wore it out. Was keeping my beloved 1930 Becker in it. My dear wife demanded that I replace the case. So, purchased an Musafia Aeturnum Aureum. Loved it! Then a fellow violinist at church showed up with an Enigma. Done! So, I purchased an Enigma, giving the Aureum to my brother. The Enigma is flat amazing. Living in WI with wide temperature and humidity swings, it remains rock solid with respect to temp, humidity, and violin condition. Seriously - in the dead of winter, my violin does not so much as go out of tune. In a week! This case is the best of the best. Expensive, but for your instrument and bows, worth every penny.
After looking at various cases in person at different violin shops, I acquired one of these from Shar. I've had this case for a few months now, and I don't believe I'd trade it for anything else. I live in an area where temperature and humidity can vary
pretty wildly over the course of a single day, never mind through the seasons. Since I've used this case I have not had any weather-related issues when transporting my 19-century violin. The hidden pocket allows me to leave my purse at home when performing,
and there is plenty of accessory space inside. The interior of the case is beautiful, and the quality of construction is superb. The exterior has a somewhat understated look, so you don't stand out from the crowd as you walk to your car after rehearsal. It
even comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and detailed instructions for care of the case and use of the included humidifier, which by the way, is the most effective case humidifier I've ever used. If you have a fine violin, I would strongly consider using
a Musafia case. This model is the very best there is.
