Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera's violin concerto is unique in many ways. It starts with a cadenza followed by six variations on the cadenza and ends with a coda. This exceptionally difficult piece uses a variety of virtuostic techniques including double stops, chords, quarter tones, harmonics, and ricochet.
