This is an incredibly well designed case, with a few shortcomings. Whether its right for you...? The Good: Extremely strong. I got one of mine crunched by a baggage handling system (the violin was not in it) and the only way I could tell was that there was a small dent at one end and I had to fidget with it a bit to close it afterwards (still have to do this, but not a big deal). Lightweight. The material used has an excellent weight/strength ratio. Weather tight. It seals against extreme humidity and heat very well. There is a gasket around the edge that fits tight...even after the baggage accident. Closes quickly and securely. The two latches pull the covers together, helping the weather tight seal. Straps and handles. Lots of strap options. Single, double, and comfortable. Handles are sturdy. Music pocket. Large and partially see through. Detachable. The Almost: No internal blanket. How much extra could that cost when you are already paying $700+? I stole one from a cheap case, but of course it doesnt match. Also one might try one of those silk instrument bags. Internal pockets are small and zip up. On numerous occasions I have forgotten to zip up the pocket and later found tuning fork, rosin, mutes, peg dope and everything else that was in the pocket all over the inside compartment. Hey, my bad, but easy to do if youre not used to zipping up an accessory pocket. And with no blanket to protect the instrument...you get the picture. All that being said, the defects are minor. The obvious off-putting factor would be the cost. But if you paid over $5000 for an instrument, do yourself a favor. This case would protect the instrument if it fell down a flight of stairs...but who would be so careless? :-D
