Schmidt Workshop Violin Bow

I bought the Schmidt Workshop Violin Bow in 1/10 size as a replacement bow for my granddaughter for the bow that came with her 1/10 size Violin set. Even at this low price, the Schmidt bow is of superior quality to the kit bow in both materials and workmanship.

I have been a professional violin teacher for 21 years and should have known better than to buy such a cheap bow for my daughter, who is a beginner.

This bow is bouncy. The stick is slightly warped, not enough to be obvious unless you are looking for it, but enough that the bow is unbalanced.

The hair is of poor quality, and even though I used my own professional quality rosin on it, the bow tends to slip with poor grip on the string.

My daughter's old bow, that had been used by my students for many years and needs rehairing, actually sounds better than this one. Shame on me for cheaping out.

Was very excited to receive this bow for my son. Unfortunately he broke it at the top after not even a week. Partially his fault, partially the construction of the tip.

I had a violin case sitting in a closet for years. To my surprise, I had forgotten there was a violin in the case. I our purchased strings and a low price bow and rosin. I am training myself to play and the bow was a deal. I am going to purchase a higher priced one to see the difference. This works great.

We actually were sold a 3/4 now for my sons 1/2 violin… when we went back to get a new case it was discovered so we then had to buy a 1/2 bow. We were offered a 10% discount but frankly I was surprised we had to pay again rather than just swap since it was the error of the salesperson. We said it was 1/2 violin and they disagreed… on the 2nd visit the salesperson was very apologetic and kind so we appreciated that.
