The back is of two pieces of maple cut on the quarter of narrow width flame descending from the center joint. The ribs and scroll are of similar maple. The top is of two pieces of spruce cut on the quarter of narrow width grain widening slightly at the flanks. The varnish is red-brown over a golden ground. Branded to the button.

Lillo Salerno, a native Italian violinmaker, received his diplomas in violinmaking from Cremona and Mittenwald, prior to working for several well-known restoration workshops. He established his shop in Pforzheim, Germany (Black Forest) in 2005. Salerno is a master maker, but also produces quality workshop violins, violas, and cellos patterned after Stradivari and Guarneri “del Gesu,” all using high-quality oil varnish.
