Luthier Peter Machs intent in designing The Hook was for the shoulder rest to hug the shoulder even more, for a more comfortable fit. Violin Hook fits both 4/4 and 3/4 violins, while the viola model will easily fit violas with lower bouts in the 230-266 mm range between 9" and 10 1/2".
This item comes with Shar's 1 year warranty covering defects of workmanship or materials. General wear and tear or mis-use are not covered. Non-transferable.

The bon musica was supposed to be a better fit because it’s adjustable but that causes a problem because overtime it changes the shape of the hook making it less of a hook. I needed a hook on my shoulder rest that would not change its shape & prevent the violin from sliding down my shoulder down my chest and the bon Musica was not doing it. I was expecting to be disappointed with the Mach one hook but after a week of playing with it, it’s been a real joy and I don’t feel like it is going to get hung up on every wire or cord or shirt pocket, the bon musica always got trapped in my shirt pocket because of all the bolts & nuts. It’s kind of a Frankenstein of shoulder rests. I’m very pleased with the mock one hook.

The legs are impossible
I'm just discovering this shoulder rest. It is beautifully made, elegant, lightweight and attractive. The "hook" version fits my frame perfectly. This shoulder rest frees me to play more comfortably and confidently. Finally!
I needed more support for shoulder pain and this has helped tremendously. I don't have to hike my shoulder anymore.
