The hair on the bow has something grainy on it that doesn’t allow the bow to move smoothly across the strings. And makes a scratchy sound :-(
I need to return for a refund.
I'm not really happy with this bow. I'm a beginner and starting to get a feel for what I need from a bow. This bow came with my deluxe set up. I tried my teacher's Coda bow, student bow at that, and it was like night and day. This Meinel bow is light and a little harder to control. I got a much better sound out of my Carlos Sonata violin with the Coda and it was SO much easier to get good intonation right away....even though I'm not that experienced. The Coda bow was a bit heavier and the thumb placement is more spacious. Saving my pennies for a Coda. I hate that you can't see things like bow weight on this website.
