Handy useful tuner- but clamp loses its grip eventually

I ordered 2 D'Addario NS Micro tuners for violin recently, after losing the others that I had. I've been using this tuner for all of my fiddles for at least 5 years. I really like it. because it's small, it's easy to store in my violin cases, & it's convenient to watch the tuner as I play, to check my intonation. However, I do have a few gripes. I preferred the older version of this tuner, where the color of each note went from red (out of tune) to orange (slightly out of tune) to green (n tune), to the current version of the note displaying in white, with varying numbers of bars on either side of the note (to indicate whether it's flat or sharp). The red/ green note display was much easier to read in dark settings; I have a harder time seeing how in- tune or off- tune a note is, on the newer version of the tuner. My other gripe is that I find it hard to get the tuner to clamp down securely on my fiddle- that's how I've lost a number of them. Maybe it's a built- in issue, so D'Addario can sell more of these tuners- but as a player, it's annoying & frustrating when the tuner starts losing its grip & falling off the fiddle more frequently after a year or 2- & then eventually gets lost. Still, it's 1 of the more widely used violin tuners on the market, & relatively inexpensive.

D'Addario NS micro tuner for violin

Works well on violin. Took me a bit to figure out how to attach, but really is no problem. Love that not affected by other instrumental sound.

very nice tuner

This is the only tuner I've found that clamps properly to a violin. Works well in noisy environments.

"Reasons: 1. It is so small and portable that you can leave it on while playing and while in the case. 2. The design is simple and intuitive: the elementary schoolers at a leave replacement I did understood how it worked immediately. 3. It automatically shuts off after 10 minutes...so thanks to whoever came up with that for saving us all batteries! 4. Clear display is easy to read. 5. Rubber has done its job and my instrument is scratch-free. 6. And...best of all, I tested it in a noisy classroom lesson and yes, the pickups are vibration only, so the ambient playing did not throw off the tuner.
So yeah, it wins. My favorite tuner to date."
