PSR sponge shoulder test

The "Perfect Shoulder Rest" (PSR) saddle for viola that I purchased is a great support! It provides a freedom from the sometimes encumbering "scaffolding" of bracket-style shoulder rests, as some viola instructors suggest. I am an amateur re-learning to play after my instrument was stolen in 1991 and I have lived too poor to buy even a student instrument most of the last 30+ years. I formerly used a a large sponge, and have now tried an Everest shoulder rest and the Kun Bravo collapsible shoulder rest for viola. The Kun Bravo was more comfortable than the Everest, but still left me needing to adjust the instrument frequently at inconvenient times in my practice. The PSR saddle had been far more comfortable and does not leave me feeling unsupported or over-supported. I might try a couple other configurations of the PSR, but it helps me appreciate some of the advice about bracket style shoulder rests. For me, this is a huge improvement in holding my instrument.

"I have been hampered by a pinched nerve in my shoulder, right where my usual shoulder rest sits. This shoulder rest has made it possible for me to play comfortably again. Also, never ignore any unusual pain. The shoulder rest helps, but seek professional
advice and a good physical therapist immediately."
