Pirastro Perpetual Soloist Cello Strings

Perpetual strings are characterized by great flexibility and an extraordinary tonal spectrum: from a sweet, warm tone to sheer endless power – everything is possible. The tone is focused and clear, the most delicate touches are instantly audible and the base warmth always present. The natural qualities and timbre of each cello are enhanced by the strings’ great dynamics and intensity.

The Perpetual Soloist offers more brilliance and dynamics. It was designed to have clarity and power on the G and C strings, while being warm on the A and D. The combination of its wonderfully round and full sounding A string with a surprisingly small diameter soloistic D string awards the player with a sound image that has incredible radiance and presence.

Amazing sound

Someone had gifted me a set of these and up until then Iíd used the usual Larson/Spirocore combo, with which I was very satisfied. These were a newer kind at the time and I was surprised at how much more I liked them even than the usual strings I used. My teacher at Interlochen Academy hadnít heard of them and was surprised at how well they sounded on my cello. And also unusual was the fact that it was a complete set that sounded good rather than piecing together strings from different manufacturers to create an ideal combo. Of course the best strings for anyone depend on the instrument itself and I just recently switched to a 7/8 from my old 4/4 (Iím tiny) so Iím hoping I strike gold again with this set as the two cellos have similar playing sound. The graph chart, to me, seems accurate with it being a direct sound and a nice combination of bright and warm with a slight tip toward the brightness I feel is more resonant on my instrument.
