REVIEW VIDEOS

William Salchow began making rosin in his shop nearly 50 years ago, and not much has changed in the making of their rosin since; the recipe remains the same but the reputation has grown. Salchow takes great pride in musicians enjoying what started as, and still is, a homemade product.

Really good rosin and value for money

This is the best rosin I have ever used. I was buying cheaper ones and there is really no comparison as they were not worth it. It is also cutely packed and without plastic which I appreciate.

for use on violin year-around, this is among the best.

Salchow is (was?) among the greatest of violin bow experts in the USA. His shop rosin provides good grip between hairs and strings, generally supporting a "good and clean" sound without hiss. It is also relatively easy to wash from the hair, when the hair is still is good condition but suffering from excessive build-up.

Salchow Rosin is less costly than some competitors. In conditions of extremely low humidty, it is not as 'grippy' as Hill Dark, but it leaves relatively low dust and residue. (Hill Dark makes in mess in warm conditions with high humidity.)

It is my opinion that violin players should generally switch rosin products for cold winter conditions (in heated but poorly humidified halls) versus summer, when both the hair and strings become a bit more soft -- but if I had to use just one kind of Rosin all year long, it would be Salchow,.
