Stravinsky, Igor - Divertimento For Violin and Piano Published by Boosey & Hawkes
REVIEW VIDEOS
The Divertimento for Violin and Piano of Stravinsky is a sort of condensed version of his 1928 ballet score, Le baiser de la fee (The Fairy's Kiss). This ballet falls into Stravinsky's neo-Classical period, and borrows themes and inspiration from another great Russian ballet composer, Tchaikovsky. Stravinsky scored the Divertimento for violin and piano in 1932, for use by himself and violinist Samuel Dushkin. Several years later, he reiterated it as an orchestral suite. The edition for violin and piano is in four movements, and contains challenges best suited to advanced players. This version is edited by Samuel Dushkin. Published by Boosey & Hawkes. Difficulty: A5
