Teka Plastic Viola Chinrest - Medium Plate

Satisfied with the Teka chinrest. Better for me than the Kaufman, Mulco and Guarneri models I had before. The Teka is twice as high in comparison, and that does the job for someone who holds his violin/viola with the head in a more upright position.

The Teka chinrest is the #1 chinrest that I use for my students. It fits many different jaw shapes and is very comfortable. It has a little hump to it (as you can see) but the plastic version is still comfortable. (Note: the wooden versions aren't exactly the same shape as the molded plastic; I recommend the plastic one over the wooden ones, as I have tried both). This chinrest lets the jaw sit slightly towards the middle of the instrument, so I will often use it when I see that a student's chin is ALMOST on the tailpiece. It's a nice middle ground between a center chinrest (which I personally use) and a side rest.
