The Etudes-Caprices, Op. 18, are among Wieniawski's better known works for solo violin. Exacting and virtuosic, these brilliant pieces can simultaneously serve as technique studies for the violinist, or as spectacular performance pieces. They are also popular among advanced players as violin duos, with the second violin filling in the harmonies to the "pyrotechnics" presented by the first violin!
