Wieniawski, Henri - Grand Caprice Fantastique - Violin and Piano - Edited by Greive - international Music Co.
REVIEW VIDEOS
Henryk Wieniawski is unique among the many 19th century violinist-composers in how he is one of the few whose works continue to have an important place within mainstream violin repertoire. Besides the two violin concertos (Opp. 14, 22) and two sets of caprices (Opp. 10, 18), among his most widely played works are the Legende, Scherzo Tarantelle and two polonaises (Opp. 4, 21) as well as other Polish dance-based miniatures. However, Wieniawski also wrote several less often played compositions that deserve to be played and heard more frequently. Hence, the intent of this publication is to make available a modern, practical performance edition of his early, little known showpiece Grand Caprice Fantastique, Op. 1 for violin and piano.
