Upon graduation, Whedbee travelled to Cremona to train at the Institute of Violin Making under the tutelage of Scarpini, Bulfari, Conia, and Morassi. Upon returning to Chicago in 1979, Whedbee & William Harris Lee partnered to form a violinmaking workshop where he built more than 400 violins, violas, and cellos. In 1992, Whedbee opened his own workshop and has been making instruments which have been highly sought after by professionals and students alike.
