Wolf Forte Primo Viola Shoulder Rest

The Wolf Primo was one of four I tried in my search for the "perfect" shoulder rest. Compared to the others I ordered, the Wolf was flimsy, ill-packaged, and difficult to adjust.
My biggest complaint of it is all the exposed metal on the underside. You need a screwdriver to loosen/tighten the stop-screw on the leg extension, and the screw, stop, bracket, and extension are all bare metal. The first time the rest slips or becomes unseated, you'll scratch up the back of your axe. Bad news. My long neck means I need more height, but even fully raised (aided by cheap plastic leg supports) all that metal is uncomfortably close to the back of my viola. I cannot recommend this on any level.

This shoulder rest holds well to the instrument (nice, rubbery feet) and is highly adjustable, however, because I prefer shape to height, I had the rest set up rather low and the metal width-adjusting piece scratched my viola- not due to slipping, but because it is indeed so adjustable/flexible that it essentially collapsed when I brought it into place. I can't imagine this would be an issue if you prefer a higher shoulder rest, but if you don't, I suggest a different shoulder rest.
