Pietro Yon, the Italian-born composer of this beloved Christmas carol, was primarily a church organist, serving at the Vatican, among other posts, before becoming an American citizen and settling at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City in the early part of the 20th century. Gesu Bambino, which means "Baby Jesus," is about the Nativity, and combines a pastoral lullaby in 12/8 time with the chorus of O Come All Ye Faithful.
